The Yssingeaux (pronounced “e seɪn jo”) is named after its birthplace of “Yssingeaux” a village in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The version of the knife you see today was baptized Yssingeaux around 1920 but was also found in slightly different formats since the late 1800s under the name “Issoire,” “Bourbonnais (1890)”, “Façon Chabrol (1908)” and “Le Basque (1912)”.
Technical aspects: This knife features a solid hardened blade stop to help prevent the blade’s edge from contacting the spring’s inner area. This knife’s handle is progressively wider toward the bottom. This characteristic provides a safer grip.
Collector Series: This exclusive model features a Damascus blade, and hand-filed spiraled handles treaded with solid sterling silver.
Consider this: This knife is handmade in Europe’s capital of cutlery “Thiers.” The “Gilles®” Fontenille Pataud collection of knives are considered by many to be some of the best pocket knives money can buy. All Knives offered by Gilles are entirely made by a single craftsman from start to finish, ensuring ownership of the final piece. 100% Made in France
