Introducing another exquisite addition to Fontenille Pataud’s Corsican series: a highly ergonomic folding knife. Unlike the Rondanira knife, this model showcases a modified single-edge spear point blade. However, please note that it is not meant for throwing purposes. With its considerable length, this knife serves as an excellent choice for daily use at the dining table. It’s important to note that this is not a split-joint knife, and the blade cannot be folded unless the lock-back mechanism is pressed firmly.
The Corsican “Moor’s head” stamp adorns the blade, reflecting the island’s heritage and Napoleon Bonaparte’s birthplace. This Corsican knife was created in collaboration with the Zuria family of Bonifacio Corsica, as with all other knives offered by Fontenille Pataud.
Consider this: This knife is entirely handmade in Thiers, Europe’s capital of cutlery. The Gilles® Fontenille Pataud collection of knives is highly regarded and considered by many to be among the best pocket knives money can buy. All knives offered by Gilles are made entirely by a single craftsman from start to finish, ensuring that the owner can take pride in the final piece. These knives are 100% made in France.
Technical aspects: Smooth, easy opening & closing is provided by a Teflon-assisted Lock-Back system. This knife also features a solid hardened blade stop to help prevent the blade’s edge from making contact with the inner area of the spring.
A 12 cm folding knife can be used as a steak knife; its open length is 8. 3/8″ vs. ~9″ for a standard steak knife. Why use such a knife at the dinner table or at your favorite steak house? Check out our article (new tab) for the surprising answer.
